Aside from the obvious trauma associated with this level of abuse, th 1976 film stimulates great debate in an audience watching through a contemporary lens, especially via a vis the nudity.

It is like “Grave of the Fireflies” in many ways, but even more ruthless. The people of “Grave of the Fireflies” at least were just apathetic and had a level of justification behind some of their actions, these folks in “Arvacska” take it a notch further and are out right sadistic. towards the poor protagonist.
It is a very strong well made movie that gave me some interest in exploring the writer Zsigmond Móricz.
