It is like viewing a Jerry Lewis film where you begin to wonder is there no joke too silly or obvious that the filmmakers will not stoop to use? Absolutely formless farce that almost works as each supporting player–each a veteran scene-stealer in their own way–try to over-emote and upstage one another. But the slapstick center is Maxie Rosenbloom himself who seems to be unable to even walk across a set. properly. It is a character he did in all of his screen appearances & for a juvenile audience, it probably worked. Thanks Jon for finding this rare & unique “gem.”
