John Carroll who had some success at the major studios had fallen into the poverty ranks of Republic and got the chance to star in the lower B’s often showcasing his vocal talents. He gets wonderful support from Mala Powers as his love interest, and two natural funny men, Stan Freeberg & Jim Backus, plus the always watchable pair, Leon Belasco and Ludwig Stossel. Even a very young Carolyn Jones even gets a few funny lines. The pat ending is too familiar but the folk songs touted in the score are pleasant and “Along the Colorado Trail” was lifted right out of a Roy Rogers film. An enjoyable matinee feature.
