The film never had a DVD release even so as expected the quality isn’t the best.

Originally conceived and filmed as a musical, it had a two-year coming to be with multiple adjustments and re-takes.
Not horrible — rather, on the order of OH . . . ROSALINDA!! (1955) their ‘Fledermaus’ film — just not that great. Certainly, no TALES OF HOFFMANN.
But, then what IS?
