Raucous “last gasp” before strict Code enforcement in mid-1934. Note the edit when Warren Hymer shockingly gut-punches Judith Allen. At their first encounter Hymer confuses Hopkins for a stereotypical 1920-1930s “fairy” at the 62 minute mark, so there are some merry mixups occurring with her X-dressing as a “college boy.”

Normally the jokes land on those moments when the person in drag is forced to confront gender expectations from the other side, that and in the big reveal. But this one offers a twist; when this showgirl dons male duds, absolutely no one falls for it. #NotPassing
